JERKCURB AIR CON EDEN

South London based Jacob Read - aka Jerkcurb, has released another flawless gem of a single to blow our socks off. His music is genre-defiant, as it seems to be such a pure expression of self. The multi-talented artist has stayed true to his vision, throughout the many years of making music in various projects such as DIK OOZ with Archie Marshall (King Krule) and Jack Marshall (who remains as the Jerkcurb bassist), to more current projects like the theatrical Horsey. He has created an aesthetic so true to his character by using his his own art - such as drawings and screen-prints for his cover art, posters and merchandise. We're itching to hear his upcoming album after the steady flow of singles, whereby his output respectably favours quality over quantity. 'Air Con Eden' has a groove that instantly makes you nod your head, formed from the dub-like bass line that wanders in the depths of low-end frequency, with a simple, snare-heavy jazz drum-beat. Strange harmonics that sound like a children's toy piano make us feel as if we're exploring an underwater world, paired with Jacob's guitar which is scarce and immersed in dreamy delay. Parts of this song evoke a 1950s crooner vibe, with Jacob singing in harmony with flawless female backing, which lulls you into a state of calm. 'Air Con Eden' is certainly a celebration of Jacob's vocal ability, with a diverse range of pitch and unusual jazz-inspired melodies. Jerkcurb tours in October - if any of these dates are near you, you'd be silly not to go. -Ellie Rose Davies
